Frédérike Labelle — Counsellor

First year at camp?

My first year at camp was in 2010. I was really nervous to find myself in a camp so big and so far away from my family, but as I stepped into it for the first time, I felt I was home. Everybody is so open to differences that you feel at ease and appreciated. As a camper, it reassured me a lot and made me really comfortable. Also, it's during this first summer that I discovered my passion for sailing. What a luck I had to discover this fabulous sport! In brief, I would relive this summer each year if I could!

What are you most excited about returning to camp for?

I am really looking forward to meet all the campers that were there in the past year, but also to meet all the new ones. I also really can't wait to eat Joe's food again: fresh bread, french toast, sticky buns.. Yummy!

What's something you're into right now?

These days, I'm working on a musical at my school. I'm taking extra classes to practice and I have a lot of fun experimenting new things. I can't wait to be able to sing out-loud at camp and to learn new songs.

Being a counsellor. Thoughts?

Being a counsellor is new for me. I was a counsellor in training last year, so I can only suppose it's amazing. But, being able to wake up campers by singing and dancing in spite of the rain or under the warm sun, it's pretty awesome no?

Any last word?

I'm so excited, I've already started to pack some stuff to bring to camp!
