Returning Staff

(you have worked at or done the CIT program at Ouareau!)

Priority application period: October 11 - 30, 2024

Want to know who you’ll be interviewing with? Meet our 2025 Hiring Team!

What you might want to know before you apply!

  • If you have not worked at Ouareau before, we do require you to be available for the full contract dates, unless you are applying for a position in the kitchen.

If you have worked at Ouareau before, you can apply to work for only the July session or only the August session, however we will need to find a partner for you in the other month session. You will still be required to attend training. Please email us at staff@ouareau.com so we can discuss this further!

  • Absolutely not! If you can carry a conversation in both French and English and are motivated to work on your language skills, Ouareau could be for you. Having role models that are equally "in progress" when it comes to their second or third language is a powerful example for campers to feel comfortable in demonstrating their new language skills.

During your first interview, we'll do a little language evaluation to see where you're at. The second interview will be in French (but don't worry, our interviewers are super nice and also not perfectly bilingual)!

If your level of French (or English) is not yet up to par, there may be positions available for you on our kitchen or administrative team. Email us at staff@ouareau.com and we can chat some more about this.

  • All of our staff must be certified in a minimum 8 hr First Aid/CPR course by the time their contract starts.

The following are an asset, but not required:

    • NLS/Bronze Cross

    • Wilderness First Aid

    • DAFA

    • MAPAQ or other food safety certification

  • Contracts for first-year resource staff start at $6300 and first-year activity heads start at $7400. Bonuses are awarded for certifications and each additional year you work at camp. Staff members may be eligible for a $250 travel allowance, to be discussed during Hiring Chat with the Camp Director.

Check out the videos below for some insights on being a Ouareau staff member from conversations between our director, Gabz, and staff members from 2022 and 2023!

New Staff

(you have never worked at Ouareau)

Applications open on November 1st, 2024

Once you apply, we will email you our pre-interview guide, which has info on camp and our campers, what a day looks like, the language program, and much more!

New applicants will do 2 interviews with our Hiring team, one in English and one in French!
